Acoustics

There where worked on three different issues in the course acoustics at Roskilde Festival this year.

Temperature and humidity - Gloria stage

The only closed stage at Roskilde Festival is the Gloria stage where it often gets hot and humid at the concerts. A group of students has studied how the sound depends on the temperature and humidity. The theoretical part shows how the speed of the sound as well as the actual speakers can greatly affect the audience experience. The group has been successful in all play days and has conducted an interview with the stage's sound engineers and sound engineers. The conclusion over the results was that such a problem did not arise due to the structure of the stage and the weather conditions.

Orange stage - East delay tower: Quality and Coverage

The students have studied the overall sound experience on the eastern side of the orange scene. This is done by some technical experiments held against known data for people's sound perception.

Investigation and documentation of noise exposure for the security guards at the pit area of Orange and / or Arena stage

The group has investigated the sound level for the safety people at work on an 8-12 hour guard at the stages Orange and Arena. It was done by installing a so-called dosimeter on selected security guards. Based on studies, the group found that the noise level of security guards is above a limit at which Roskilde festival should offer protection under guards at these scenes. A questionnaire shows results for worrying side effects after a guard. Furthermore, the group examined the effect of different types of hearing protection. The group has made suggestions for improvements in this area because they see a real problem.
