Mellow Pod is an affordable, multi-functional and mobile structure which can be applied in many use cases. The first prototype finds itself in the area of “talking and meeting boxes” currently present in offices, libraries, or during events such as music festivals. Mellow Pod is the first step towards developing a portfolio of sustainable solutions that need innovative design thinking.
Mellow Pod project is trying to show, that with usage of materials that are nowadays considered as waste, it is possible to design and build products competitive in price, quality, look and user experience. It is solving a problem of high cost and resource demand needed to create an aesthetic, compact, private space. Mellow Pod is currently the only product one of its kind on the market that is designed to be built close to 100% of sustainable, upcycled and recycled materials.
The bigger picture behind this project is Mellow Designs startup with a mission to innovate living and working spaces by utilizing sustainable approach and resources. The ultimate goal is to actively participate in spreading awareness about the benefits of circular economy and sustainable approach to designing successful products.
Mellowpod was placed by the swimming lake in camping area J. The construction was used by a broad range of people. The overall feedback from the users were indeed positive. People thought that the concept of a compact private space was a missing element of roskilde Festival infrastructure, and that Mellow Pod perfectly satisfied their need for a quiet place to relax. The interviews were conducted everyday, in two or three rounds during different times of the day. In all cases Mellow Pod was occupied by at least 3 people.
