The aim of the project wasto develop a vertical wind turbine that can generate electricity in a sustainable and green way for charging mobile phones. It must be simple and transportable. In addition, we will utilize the height of the wind turbine to mount LED light and thus it can also act as a lamp post.
We want to immerse ourselves in design, and calculations on the wind turbine. We also want to focus on power supply compared to the price of the total product. Functionality in relation to design is also something we will take into consideration and therefore we want to use standard parts for the construction of our wind turbine.
The goal is to make a prototype that we can show to the festival where we want Roskilde festival visitors to test our green and sustainable solution for charging their mobile phones. We hope to offer Roskilde festival visitors a more comfortable experience while protecting the environment.
We want to use Roskilde festival as a platform for testing the wind turbine, as well as investigating whether it could work in tent camps around the world. Where it will supply not only power but also act as a light source.
During the festival we put up the project in the camping area. This gave us the opportunity to test it in the harsh environment on the flat field with very little cover. It really tested our project to the max, due to heavy winds in the Dream City area this year. Being among festival guests also gave us the opportunity to receive feedback on both design and functionality of the turbine.
