Paper Pavillion 2.0

Once again the exhibition platform for the projects within the collaboration between Roskilde Festival and DTU was assembled - this year with three levels compared to the two-leveled version last year!

The aim of Paper Pavilion was to embody some shared values between DTU and Roskilde festival: the playful, democratic experimenting with what is possible and how we experience the world. The result was a large space frame structure made of paper tubes and textile panels.

The design work with themes such as modularity, lightweight, alternative materials, design for disassembly and a visual representation of the forces in the structure.

The design also aims to play on the temporality of a Roskilde pavilion, and the break from rules and preconceived notions of what a building is - much like Roskilde Festival is a place free of the rules of everyday life. And since Roskilde Festival is a context focused on cultural experience, we tried to make a design that could both represent DTU and have the visual potential to be a classic Roskilde landmark.

Once again the construction attracted great attention from festivals guests and fulfilled its role as an exhibition platform to perfection.
